Functionaries of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and other Hindu frontal organisations rushed to the spot and created an uproar.

VHP

general secretary (

Gau Raksha

) Lal Mani Tiwari told TOI that a group of villagers, while they were going to take dip in the Ganga on Friday morning, spotted some persons throwing the carcasses from a truck.

He alleged that the locals spotted

Mumtaz Ali

and Asad Ali, besides four other unidentified persons throwing the carcasses of the cows from a truck on the roadside. When the villagers raised an alarm, the accused sped away after threatening the villagers.

Later, leaders of VHP and other Hindu frontal organisations reached the spot and demanded police higher-ups to take strict action.

A senior cop said that a case under sections 3, 5 and 8 of Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act and 504 and 506 of

IPC

has been registered at Tharwai police station against three persons, including Asad Ali and Mumtaz Ali, regarding the incident. None of the accused have been arrested so far.
