PRAYAGRAJ: An FIR was registered against a woman for indulging in celebratory firing on her wedding function in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh district late on Monday.


The incident was reported in Laxman Ka Purwa village under Jethwara police station.

The woman was identified as Rupa Pandey.

Rupa marked her entry on stage by firing a bullet in the air from a licensed revolver of his uncle.

Inspector general of police (Prayagraj range), K P Singh, told TOI that an FIR has been registered against the bride woman under Sections 286 ( negligently endanger human life), 188 (disobedience to order) , 269 ( unlawfully or negligently does any act) and 270 (likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life) of IPC, Section 51 of Disaster Management Act and Section 30 of Arms Act.

He said that the licensed weapon will be seized and the police would also send a cancellation report of the holder to the Pratapgarh district authorities.

As per reports, the marriage of Rupa Pandey, daughter of Girja Shankar Pandey, was to be solemnised on May 30.

The 35-second video of the celebratory firing by the bride went viral on social media platforms on May 31.
