UP Board warns students, parents against cyber frauds promising marks hike

Prayagraj: As evaluation work for the 2026 high school and intermediate exams nears conclusion, the UP Board has cautioned students and parents to stay alert against cyber cons attempting to exploit anxiety over results with false promises of mark enhancement.Board secretary Bhagwati Singh said fraudsters may contact candidates and their guardians through phone calls, messages or emails, claiming to be board officials authorised to alter marks. "These criminals often demand money in exchange for enhancing marks and may even pretend to have access to the main database, attempting to gain students' trust," Singh said. He added that such incidents were reported last year, highlighting the continuing risk this year. He clarified that the board staff never directly contact students for any mark-related requests, nor do they solicit payments for evaluation or results. "Students and parents are advised to ignore any suspicious communication and never share personal or banking details with unknown individuals," Singh said. In case of such attempts, officials urged immediate reporting either via the cyber helpline number 1930 or to the respective district school inspector. The board assured that with police assistance, stringent action will be taken against the offenders under the IT Act and the Indian Penal Code. "Remain alert, avoid responding to any dubious calls or messages, and follow official board channels for information regarding marks and results," said Singh.
