ALLAHABAD: In a communiqué issued on Sunday, chairman, Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh (BCUP), Ajay Kumar Shukla informed that in view of the rising attacks on lawyer community across the state, including the recent killing of a lawyer in Pratapgarh district, an emergency meeting of BCUP was convened on Sunday.
Thereafter, it was decided by BCUP to observe a fast on Monday and to mark their protests, a procession will also be taken out on Tuesday from the high court to the district collectorate.
Later on, a memorandum would be handed over to the district authorities to draw the attention of the state government towards the spiraling crime graph in the state and rising attacks on lawyer community.
He warned that if those responsible for attack on lawyers are not arrested within a week and law and order situation in the state is not improved, lawyers would be forced to come out on the streets.
It may be mentioned that president Junior Bar Association Rajdutt Mishra was murdered in Pratapgarh district few days back while several cases of attacks on lawyers have been reported from across the state.
