NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah is set to make a one-day visit to Prayagraj today to take part in the Mahakumbh Mela 2025, as per a release from the Mahakumbh Media Centre.
According to the release, Shah is scheduled to arrive in Prayagraj at 11:25 AM on Monday, following which he will take a holy bath at the Triveni Sangam. He will then visit the Bade Hanuman Ji Temple and Abhayvat.
The minister's schedule includes a visit to Juna Akhara for a meeting and lunch with the Maharaj and other saints.
He will then visit Guru Sharananand Ji's Ashram to meet Guru Sharananand Ji and Govind Giri Ji Maharaj, before meeting the Shankaracharyas of Sringeri, Puri, and Dwaraka. His visit concludes with an evening departure to Delhi.
At the MahaKumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj, Yog Guru Baba Ramdev organised a complimentary yoga therapy and meditation session, which was attended by the 7th Kyabje Yongzin Ling Rinpoche.
The Mahakumbh, a 12-yearly event, is scheduled from January 13 to February 26, anticipating substantial attendance.
Since its commencement on January 13 with Paush Purnima, the event has drawn over 110 million devotees who have taken sacred baths at Prayagraj during the initial fortnight, as reported on Sunday.
The Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati (now extinct) rivers meet, attracts pilgrims seeking spiritual purification and moksha through the sacred bath.
This significant Sanatan Dharma celebration coincides with an auspicious celestial configuration. The Mahakumbh Mela anticipates hosting more than 45 crore visitors, establishing a significant milestone in Indian history.
