ALLAHABAD:Two persons were arrested on Thursday in connection with Rs 7 lakh theft at the house of a mill owner in Mutthuganj.
On Thursday, Mirzapur police received a tip off that some persons were quarrelling over distribution of stolen money after which a police team from Dehat Kotwali raided a house in Katra locality and arrested Roshan Kesarwani and Gaurav Sahu from the spot and recovered the stolen amount of Rs 7 lakh.
‘‘Keshav managed to flee from the spot. The police have launched a manhunt to nab him,’’ said additional superintendent of police (ASP) Mirzapur, Shripati Mishra. Keshav, a resident of Mirzapur, had paid a visit at the place of his relative in Allahabad, Uma Shankar Kesarwani on May 27. Kesarwani owns a dal mill in Muthigunj. During his stay, Keshav managed to steal Rs 7 lakh kept inside an almirah. When Kesarwani came to know about the theft, he lodged a complaint with the police.
In the meantime, Keshav had handed over the stolen amount to his two friends, Roshan Kesarwani and Gaurav Sahu of Mirzapur. When Keshav demanded the stolen amount from the two persons, they were reluctant to return it.
