ALLAHABAD: Traffic snarls continue to haunt the denizens. Choked arteries of the Sangam City left commuters braving the heat at Tashkent Marg, Company Bagh Road, Thornhill Road and UPPSC Crossing on Wednesday. As traffic moved at snarl's pace, vehicle owners and drivers had no option but to stay put at their place and sweat under the blistering sun.

In fact, three prominent schools got over at the same time thus creating a traffic-jam like situation. Parents and guardians claimed that absence of traffic cops to streamline the traffic could have saved the situation from worsening.
"Small children are trapped in jams daily. Despite acknowledging the fact, the traffic police department is deploying only a handful of traffic constables and home-guards to manage the situation," said a harassed parent.
RK Shukla of Salori said, "At least four to five traffic cops should be deployed at school's gate to regulate traffic as well as parking." He added, "Only one or two constable are seen streamlining the traffic which is insufficient and only adds to woes of commuters."
Majority of parents alleged that regular traffic jam was a fall out of mismanaged vehicle parking outside schools and there was none to check such problems.
Traffic police authorities, however, claimed three to four traffic constables and two home-guards were deployed to regulate traffic outside every school (when schools get over). Cops also claimed that visitors (parents arriving to pick up their children) have no patience and everyone flouts the row and drives in wrong direction to reach their destination at the earliest.
