ALLAHABAD: An FIR has been lodged against former BSP minister Matesh Chandra Sonkar by Samajwadi Party MLA Vachaspati with Kokhraj police in Kaushambi district on Sunday alleging that he threatened him of dire consequences. A case has been lodged under Sonkar for unlawful assembly, rioting and criminal intimidation.
Vachaspati stated in the FIR he had started from his house for Rampur Dhalwa village in Sirathu to attend the cremation of his relative.
As his vehicle entered Saini area, Matesh Chandra Sonkar and his 16 supporters allegedly followed him on two sports utility vehicles and two motorcycles from Saini to Sirathu and threatened him.
When he was attending the ritual, Sonkar allegedly complained SDM (Sirathu) B K Mishra of his presence in the area despite model code of conduct during panchayat elections. Vachaspati said that the later Sonkar also followed his vehicle from Sirathu to Kokhraj and continued to threaten him with dire consequences if he failed to leave the area immediately.
“Vachaspati had claimed that former minister Mahesh Chandra Sonkar had threatened with life and gave a complaint. We lodged an FIR against Sonkar under Section 147, 149, 506, 188 of IPC,” SO Kokhraj said.
Sonkar has claimed that he has been falsely implicated due to political enmity. He said Vachaspati and his relatives are both contesting panchayat elections and the FIR could be the reason behind it.
