Six robbers nabbed, weapons seized

ALLAHABAD: District police on Monday busted an inter-district gang of robbers and arrested six of its members near Rajruppur.
These robbers had on Sunday night made an abortive attempt to loot the house of one Shafika Begum in Buxibazar of Khuldabad police circle. However, they escaped when the family members raised an alarm.
The arrested robbers were identified as Himanshu Sahoo and Pawan Kumar Gupta of Kaushambi, Masood alias Babloo of Kalindipuram, Mohd.Sufian of Kareli , Neeraj Jaiswal of Dhoomanganj and Mahmood Khan of Civil Lines.
The police also recovered five country-made pistols along with several live cartridges from their possession.
The accused admitted they collected information that the victim had adequate money at their house and they could loot five to six lakh during the crime.
Police said the gang leader Himanshu Sahoo has a criminal record and cases are pending against him at Sarayinayat, Soraon and Mauaima police stations.
