PRAYAGRAJ: Said to be wealthiest amongst the 13 monastic orders, Shri Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani, conducted their Chhavani Pravesh Yatra with grandeur on Thursday. The saints received an elaborate welcome with flower showers as they arrived at sector 20 of the mela grounds.
Beginning from Alopi Bagh, the procession was remarkable in numerous aspects. The entire route was blanketed with rose and marigold petals, showered by locals as the akhara proceeded.
Hindi devotional songs resonated throughout the procession, performed by various bands, followed by Naga Sadhus, seers, mandleshwars, and mahamandleshwars. An Indore-based artistic group, who previously created extensive rangoli artwork at Jamuna Christian College, enhanced the Chhavani Pravesh. As the procession advanced, 10-12 artists crafted rangoli designs to welcome the akhara members.
Approximately 50 damru players preceded the procession, creating rhythmic patterns that guided the seers' march towards the mela area. Additionally, a youth group known for performing Chita Bhasm Holi in Varanasi participated while playing traditional Holi.
The procession also featured environmental protection symbols.
