ALLAHABAD: The Criminal Law Amendment Bill, 2013, being introduced by the government in Parliament will be very harmful for society as chances of it being misused are very high, said Bollywood actor Raza Murad while talking to reporters on Friday.
Stating that chances of misuse of provisions like Section 498 of the Indian Penal Code are very high in case of enforcement of the new law, he said that "men will be scared of looking at men and talking to them as they can be booked on the most frivolous ground irrespective of their good intention".

On being asked about the reason behind these apprehensions, Murad said: "With the passage of the Bill, a person walking behind a woman risks being branded as a stalker, just because law would give the fairer sex an opportunity to exercise this power".
On the issue of growing corruption in the society, he said: "Our society is ridden with corruption and corrupt people. This is perhaps the reason why despite receiving several offers, I am unwilling to contest elections as I lack what it takes to become a politician. Moreover, neither can I become corrupt, nor endorse and support corrupt."
When asked on the political party of his choice, Murad candidly admitted: "Despite the prevailing political scenario, I still support the Congress party and its policies."
