Prayagraj: With the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahanagar president Ganesh Kesarwani being elected as the mayor of the city in the recently held municipal polls, there seems to be a hot race among cadre to succeed him.
As many as 27 aspirants have staked their claims before the state party leadership to become new party Mahanagar president. The party leadership will appoint two observers to interact with aspirants and submit their report.
BJP spokesman Rajesh Kesarwani told TOI: “After party Mahanagar president Ganesh Kesarwani being elected as mayor, state party leadership have started an exercise to pick up a new Mahanagar president.”
He added that contenders like Natwarlal Bharti, Sanjay Srivastava, Kunj Bihari Mishra, Ashish Gupta, Rajnikant Srivastava, Gyaneshwar Shukla, Shyam Chandra Hela, Rajendra Mishra, Varun Kesarwani,
Rakesh Jain, Ramesh Pasi,
Vivek Agrawal, Raju Pathak, Pawan Srivastava, Padum Jaiswal, Sanjay Gupta, Ashutosh Pandey, Pramod Jaiswal, Kamesh Gautam, Devendra Mishra, Mirtunjay Tiwari, Vikram Singh Bhadauria, Raghvendra Singh, Anil Bhatt, Girijesh Mishra, Jaivardhan Tripathi and Pran

Interestingly, majority of contenders who submitted their detailed resume before the state party leadership claimed that they have been associated with party since three decades and held many important posts from ward president to state working committee member.
State party leadership is keen to appoint a new Mahanagar party president on or before July 30 after acknowledging that a series of campaigns, including voters’ outreach programmes are underway in Mahanagar, trans Ganga and trans Yamuna pockets of the district.
