Prayagraj schools to furnish vehicle safety, document details online
Prayagraj: As part of a new initiative by the transport department, school managements in Prayagraj will now have to furnish detailed information regarding the safety, fitness and documentation of their vehicles through an affidavit on a dedicated portal.Officials said the initiative is aimed at ensuring the safety of schoolchildren and bringing greater accountability among school authorities. They added that compliance with the new system will be mandatory, and failure to provide accurate information or upload required documents may invite further action. Officials said institutions will be required to answer key questions such as whether their vehicles are roadworthy, whether safety standards are being followed, and the validity of essential documents including fitness certificates, permits and insurance. These details must be submitted via a notarised affidavit on the portal upisvmp.com. Assistant regional transport officer (administration), Rajeev Chaturvedi, said: "School authorities must upload the affidavit on a Rs 100 stamp paper, duly verified by a notary, declaring that all documents related to their vehicles are valid. The portal also requires comprehensive details such as vehicle registration number, type, age, model, engine and chassis numbers, ownership details, permit status, fitness, insurance, pollution certificate and GPS installation.
" The move comes after the transport department identified over 400 school vehicles operating with expired fitness certificates during a recent review. Notices were already issued to these vehicle owners as well as school managements. In addition, the department has launched a special enforcement drive against school vehicles starting April 1. During the drive, strict action is being taken against vehicles failing to meet fitness norms.
