A police constable was killed in an accident after he was hit by a truck at Kokhraj toll plaza in Kaushambi district on Saturday.

ALLAHABAD: A police constable was killed in an accident after he was hit by a truck at Kokhraj toll plaza in Kaushambi district on Saturday.
According to police, the constable identified as Phulchandra Tiwari, 35, resident of Jaunpur was deployed at Sahjatpur police outpost of Kokhraj police station. A month ago he had gone to his village Kunwarpur village in Jaunpur on leave.

He was slated to join duty on Saturday. As per reports, he started from Jaunpur in the wee hours on his motorcycle and reached the Kokhraj toll plaza at around 11 am when a truck coming from the opposite direction hit him.
The truck dragged him along with the bike for few metres before coming at a halt. Tiwari received fatal head and body injuries. The driver of vehicle immediately fled from the scene, leaving behind his truck.
The passers by immediately rushed him to a near private hospital where he was referred to SRN Hospital. At SRN Hospital he was declared brought dead. SP Kaushambi, Ratan Kant Pandey said, “The truck has been seized. Police is searching for the absconding driver of the vehicle.”
This is the second instance of accident of police personnel in Allahabad range. Earlier, Cantonment police station inspector and his child received fatal injuries while his wife and another child died when the car in which they were travelling in was crushed by a truck.
