ALLAHABAD: The anti-encroachment team of the
Prayagraj
Municipal Corporation (PMC), accompanied by the district
administration
carried out extensive anti-encroachment drive in the chowk area of the city, on Saturday. Over 50 shops and the
encroachment
done by them were removed by the authorities in the drive which went on for over Six hours.
Starting the drive at around 11 in the morning, the team reached at
Niranjan cinema hall
. Equipped with heavy police force, JCB and vehicles of the PMC, the team started removing the encroachment done by the shopkeepers who had constructed cemented platforms in front of their shops and were using as extension, informed the officer in charge Manoj Kumar Yadav of PMC.
The team broke the iron grills, platform, stairs, ramps etc of number of shopkeepers and seized their belongings including benches, wooden platforms, banners and signboards etc.
The team removed the encroachment on the roads from Johnstonganj crossing to Loknath, Ram Bahwan crossing, chandralok hall, monsarovar crossing etc.
