Plea against AMU VC selection process nixed

PRAYAGRAJ: The Allahabad HC on Thursday dismissed a writ petition as withdrawn challenging the process of selection of vice- chancellor, in Aligarh Muslim University.

When the matter was taken up for hearing, the counsel for the petitioner prayed before the court for withdrawal of the writ petition with liberty to file it afresh. On request, justice Vikas Budhwar dismissed the petition as withdrawn.

Syed Afzal Murtaza Rizvi had moved the court on the ground that names of three candidates were shortlisted by a committee, including wife of he officiating VC of the AMU.
