‘Plant more and more saplings to protect environ’

Prayagraj: When it comes to protecting environment, citizens of Sangam city are a step ahead to take up plantation campaign on the occasion of world environment day under the theme ‘beat plastic pollution’. Apart from volunteers of organisations working for environment protection, men-in-khaki have too initiated step to plant more and more saplings to protect earth.
Senior police officials including Additional DG (Prayagraj zone) Bhanu Bhaskar, IG ( Prayagraj range) Chandra Prakash and Commissioner of police (Prayagraj) Ramit Sharma also planted saplings at their respective office campus and appealed their subordinates to plant more and more saplings to protect environment.
On the occasion, police and citizens also took oath to beat plastic menace and promote and maximise use of eco- friendly products. Groups of volunteers on Monday took up awareness campaign in different parts of the city seeking every individual participation to protect environment in terms of discarding plastic products, limited use of ACs, planting more and more saplings.
A team of volunteers led by Anamika Chaudhary took up cleanliness campaign on the banks of Ganga and appealed devotees and residents to boycott single use polythene. She also appealed citizens to use cotton bags. She said “ residents must come forward to take initiatives on their own part to protect the environment”.
