Over 1,400 young entrepreneurs avail loans under CM scheme

Prayagraj: A large number of city-based youths have shown interest in launching their ventures in food, agro and service sectors this year under the Chief Minister's Youth Entrepreneur Development Scheme."For the financial year 2025-26, from April to December 10, 2025, as many as 7,331 applications worth Rs 3572.75 lakhs have been received under this scheme in Prayagraj district alone. Expediting the process, loans for 1,698 applicants have been approved, and out of these, 1,419 have been disbursed loans amounting to Rs 629.19 lakh. The majority of applicants are from the food, agro, and service sectors," deputy commissioner (industries), Sharad Tandon said. Under this scheme, eligible youths are being provided loans of up to Rs 5 lakh so that they can start their own businesses. This is not only providing employment opportunities to the youth but also strengthening the local economy.
Officials claimed at least 52% of the applications are from rural areas. Shailesh Maurya of Bahariya village, said he runs a small unit called "Premanjul Bakers" in his area, and he received a loan of Rs 2.5 lakh under the scheme to expand his business. With the financial support, his business grew, and he is now supplying pizzas, cakes, pastries and buns to nearby towns. Dr Anas Khan, also from the city area, took a loan of Rs 5 lakh under this scheme to set up his physiotherapy unit and opened a wellness centre. Dr Khan said he purchased physiotherapy equipment for better work. tnn
