ALLAHABAD: The prime accused allegedly in contractor
Dheeraj Singh murder case was arrested on Thursday.
Anuj Agarwal alias
Cheenu, a resident of Mutthiganj, was
arrested near roadways
workshop. A 0.32 bore pistol and cartridges were recovered from his possession. His accomplice identified as Pawan Hajari alias Pawan Patel of Fatehpur managed to escape. SSP SA Kulkarni said the contractor was allegedly shot by the accused near AG office road in Civil Lines on June 1.
Agarwal confessed that he along with his accomplice had tried to rob a luxury car parked outside the dhaba and planned to rob it. As they were trying to flee with the car ,a woman reached there and took Pawan in her grip. She then raised an alarm and Dheeraj Singh too rushed towards the car. The accused fired on the couple. The woman survived while Singh died on the spot.
