NCR’s Prayagraj div tops in chain pulling cases

Prayagraj: Among the three divisions of North Central Railway (NCR) — Prayagraj, Jhansi and Agra— the Prayagraj division tops the chart when it comes to cases of chain pulling and illegal food vendors on platforms.As per the action taken by Railway Protection Force between August and first week of September, 318 people were booked and fined for pulling the chain without any valid reason.Likewise, 133 vendors were fined in the first week of September for violating the norms. A railway official said under the direction of principal chief security commissioner/RPF of NCR Amiya Nandan Sinha four teams were formed in regional headquarters and at all three divisions of NCR to crackdown on such cases.The official added action was taken under section 141 of Railway Act against those involved in chain pulling without any valid reason. In August, 600 people, including 318 in Prayagraj division, 165 in Agra division and 117 in Jhansi division, were caught and Rs 1,29,586 fine realized from them.This included Rs 69,465 from Prayagraj, Rs 51,186 from Jhansi and Rs 8,935 from Agra divisions.Likewise, in the campaign against illegal vendors carried out between September 4 and 6, a total of 344 illegal vendors were caught. Action was taken against them under section 144 of the Railway Act. Under this, 133 were caught in Prayagraj, 115 in Agra and 96 in Jhansi divisions.Separately, an intensive checking campaign was conducted in Prayagraj Division on Wednesday against ticketless travellers. As many as 20 trains passing through Prayagraj division were checked by over 20 ticket checking and 17 RPF personnel.An amount of Rs 2,39,810 were recovered from 267 ticketless passengers. As many as 390 were caught traveling on irregular tickets and Rs 1,92,390 were recovered from them. Also, five passengers were caught littering on platforms and Rs 500 were recovered as fine. A total fine of Rs 4,32,700 was collected from 662 cases in one day.

Young Orions emerged victorious in the State A division league basketball tournament, defeating Bank of Baroda 78-76 in a challenging final. Orions' Aaron scored 27 points and Gautham netted 21, while Anil Kumar led the scoring for Bank of Baroda with 24 points. In the B Division final, JSC defeated Viveks SC 93-81, while Bangalore Vanguards clinched the C Division title with a 98-86 win over YMMA.

9 dists of 2 divisions still rainfall deficit

Despite recent rainfall, nine districts in Indore and Ujjain divisions in Madhya Pradesh are still experiencing rainfall deficits. Alirajpur, Khandwa, Khargone, Dhar, and Jhabua in Indore division are all rain deficit, while Mandsaur, Shajapur, Agar-Malwa, and Neemuch in Ujjain division are also facing deficits. Only Burhanpur and Bhind districts have recorded excess rainfall. The meteorological department has forecasted another spell of rainfall from September 15 to 21, which may help recover the deficiency.

Man kills elder brother by pushing him off terrace in Prayagraj

A dispute over a one-inch strip of land in Panchdevra village of Nawabganj in Prayagraj turned fatal when a man allegedly pushed his elder brother from the terrace, resulting in his death. The deceased was identified as Prakash Babu Kesarwani, while the accused, his younger brother Subhash Kesarwani, has been arrested by the police. The argument escalated when Subhash pushed his brother off the terrace. The family members of the deceased have also named Subhash's wife and sons in the FIR.
