Narayana Murthy to deliver Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Lecture

ALLAHABAD: One of the pioneers in the field of Information Technology (IT) in the country and chairman of the Board and chief mentor, Infosys Technologies Ltd, N R Narayana Murthy, is visiting Allahabad on November 14 this year to deliver the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Lecture-2009 at Jawahar Planetarium, Anand Bhawan, on the topic, `Nehru's Contribution to Higher Education in India'.

Giving this information, the director, Jawahar Planetarium, Pramod Pandey said, "Narayana Murthy articulated, designed and implemented the Global Delivery Model which has become the foundation for the huge success in IT services' outsourcing from India. Narayana Murthy is not merely a name to reckon with in the field of Information Technology, who brought a wave in this field in the country. Today, he has become an icon of simplicity, uncompromising quality and fairness besides being a leading entrepreneur and philanthropist."
He serves on the boards of many big national and multinational companies like Uniliver, HSBC, Ford Foundation, U N Foundation and premier institutions such as Cornell University, Wharton School, Singapore Management University etc. In recognition to his technological, business and human welfare contributions, he has been honoured with various awards and distinctions. He topped the Economic Times' list of India's most powerful CEO's for three consecutive years from 2004-2006. He has been awarded the Padma Vibhushan by the President of India, the Legion d'honneur by the French government and the CBE by the British government.
He added that Narayana Murthy has presented numerous invited talks in the national and international forums. On the occasion of 120th birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, Narayana Murthy decided to shed light on a serious and thought-provoking topic pertinent to the occasion.
