Residents of Meerapur locality have complained about the supply of contaminated water in their area with the onset of summer season. People also rued about absence of any garbage bin due to which insanitation is persisting in the area.

ALLAHABAD: Residents of Meerapur locality have complained about the supply of contaminated water in their area with the onset of summer season. People also rued about absence of any garbage bin due to which insanitation is persisting in the area.
People residing near the Lalita Devi Mandir in Meerapur locality have complained about the supply of contaminated water for the past several days.

No one from Jal Sansthan has come to rectify the problem and provide relief to the denizens.
Speaking about the problem, Radha Gupta, a resident complained: "The water that is being supplied to our houses is not clean. It has a slight muddish colour. At times, even the water stinks. As a result, the water is unfit for consumption.'' She rued that despite numerous complaints to Jal Sansthan authorities, no one has turned up to solve the problem.
She says that she borrows water for drinking purpose from her neighbour. Her neighbour has installed a private water pump in her house which brings underground water which is fit for consumption.
Locals also complain that some sanitary pipes in the area have been broken due to which sewage water is mixing with drinking water.
People also complain that Meerapur area lacks absence of garbage bin due to which insanitation has taken a menacing shape in the area.
Speaking about the problem, Monika Tripathi, corporator of Meerapur asserted that people of the area are not able to throw garbage at proper place due to absence of garbage bin. Allahabad Municipal Corporation has not taken steps for installing garbage bins in the area. Though people are willing to give space for installation of garbage bins but due to apathy of AMC officials, people are facing the brunt.
