GORAKHPUR: A man was shot dead and two others were injured in a clash between two rival groups, in Jhangha area on Saturday.

Jai Prakash was a former student union leader and had earlier lost a panchayat election to Kathivalia village head Dharmendra Yadav. Ever since, the two had been arch rivals.

As per police reports, the deceased was identified as Jai Prakash Yadav and he along with his two brothers, Om Prakash and Rajesh, had gone to the

Gobdore road

on Saturday, when a group of miscreants, alleged to be Dharmendra Yadav's aides, attacked them. The miscreants fired bullets at Jai Prakash and thrashed his brothers. The accused managed to flee from the scene. The police rushed to scene and rushed the three brothers to the district hospital, where Jai Prakash was declared brought dead.

His brothers are still undergoing treatment and their condition is said to be critical. An FIR has been lodged against the village head of Kathvalia, Dharmendra Yadav, and his aides in connection with the case.
