Lecture delivered on Bhagwad Gita

ALLAHABAD: On the occasion of Gita Jayanti, a lecture was delivered on the subject 'Pahari Chitron mein Bhagawad Gita ka Chitran' by director, Allahabad Museum, Rajesh Purohit. The points of the lecture were a set of 26 paintings found in Haryana.
These set of 26 miniature paintings depict the entire episode of Gita in the illustrations with the inscribed text.
One of the painting showed Sanjaya recounting the battle scenes.
The lecture was presided over by Prof VD Mishra, former HoD of the Dept of Ancient History and Archaeology. He said that Gita was one of the greatest philosophical discoveries of the world and teaches us the value of karma (action) and embodies value and righteousness.
He added that Bhagwad Gita first came into focus during the Mahabharat when the great warrior Arjun decided to quit the battlefield seeing his brothers and relatives pitted against him on the enemy side.
It was at that time that Lord Krishna delivered a discourse from the BhagwadGita which enlightened Arjun and reminded him about his duty and dharma.
