SANGAM (ALLAHABAD): The dental care unit of health department at Kumbh Mela on Tuesday revealed that 83.57% of male visitors to the unit have contacted the dental surgeons for crowning, capping and implantation of artificial teeth in order to get good smile.
In-charge of medical services, Major (Dr) BP Singh said that a total of 5,042 persons including 4,214 males, 635 females and 193 children were examined and treated by dental surgeons at Kumbh Mela between December 12, 2012 and February 28, 2013.

He added that habit of chewing of paan masala and gutkha was found common among male patients. Secondly, dental surgeons were also being approached for misaligned teeth and even asked for conduct wiring and fittings in order to have proper shapes of teeth.
Singh also informed that a total of 469 doses of ARV vaccines were also administered to patients of dog and monkey bites at Kumbh Mela. He added that as many as 128 ARV vials were used to administer vaccines to the patients. Besides, two snake bite cases were also reported, and the investigations revealed that snakes were non-poisonous.
