ALLAHABAD: Children of the Upper Primary School, Abdalpur, of Mauaima block on Thursday took part in awareness programme organized by the Directorate of Field Publicity on the occasion of World Population Day.
On this occasion, an essay competition on "Challenges of growing population" was also held wherein hundreds of schoolchildren of upper primary sections participated.

While Sarita Patel got first prize, Virendra Kumar was second and Anita Pal third. Five students also got consolation prizes.
Certificates from the department were also given to all eight prize-winning students.
Speaking on this occasion, Field Publicity Officer Sanajay Pratap Singh said that "though the country has achieved significant progress in the field of population control, poor health condition of children and early marriage of adolescent girls are some of the existing bigger challenges.
Principal of the school, Pyarelal highlighted the need for more social awareness programmes among schoolchildren. Satish Tripathi,a school teacher, said that "schoolchildren are true messengers for their family and for success of population control, we have to sensitize all growing students".
On this occasion, students from primary and junior wings of the school presented poems, song and folk songs.
DFP is also organizing a campaign on total sanitation programme "Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan" in Mauaima block area. As part of this campaign, special feedbacks are being collected directly from the rural people.
