ALLAHABAD: The third in the series of private trains in the country, Kashi-Mahakal Express, made a brief halt at Allahabad Junction on its maiden run on Sunday.

The train was flagged off by PM Narendra Modi from Varanasi on Sunday. On its way to Indore, the train stopped for its scheduled halt at Allahabad. The commercial run of the train would commence from February 20.

From Allahabad, the train was flagged off by BJP MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi and BJP MP from Kaushambi Vinod Sonkar.

said the train (82401) would run via Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Bina before culminating at Indore on every Tuesday and Thursday. Likewise, the train (82403) would run via Allahabad, Kanpur on very Sunday.

"The train would leave Varanasi at 3.15pm and reach Allahabad Junction at 5.30pm and Kanpur at 8.50pm before reaching

Ujjain

at 8am and will take a halt of five minutes at both the stations," he added.

On its return journey, train number 82404 would leave Indore on every Monday at 10:55am and reach Kanpur at 11:35pm and Allahabad at 02:25am of Tuesday before culminating at Varanasi at 5:00am on the same day.

On its journey to Indore, via Sultanpur and Lucknow, train number 82401 would leave Varanasi at 2:45pm and reach Lucknow at 7:05pm and Kanpur at 8:50pm (the same time as of journey via Allahabad).

In its return journey, train number 82402 would leave Indore on every Wednesday and Friday at 10:55am and reach Kanpur at 11:35pm and Lucknow at 01:10am of Thursday before culminating at Varanasi at 6:00am on Thursday’s and Saturday’s.

Passengers will be covered under a complimentary travel insurance of Rs 10 lakh during the journey. The train will have an advance reservation period of 120 days and will offer only general and foreign tourist quota, said the CPRO.

Prior to arrival of the train at Allahabad Junction, under the banner of Uttariya Railway Mazdoor Union, railway employees staged their protest at platform number Six. The union is protesting against the policy of privatisation of the railways.
