ALLAHABAD: Several corporators locked the office of Jal Sansthan located at Pani Tanki in Allahpur on Thursday.
The corporators and residents of the area reached the office at 2:30 pm and forcibly stopped the work of deposition of water tax. They raised slogans against the general manager of Jal Sansthan.
The corporators alleged that Jal Sansthan is taking water tax in an arbitrary manner based on the new evaluation of the slab rates.

Addressing the people, Shiv Sewak Singh, corporator has appealed to the people not to deposit the water tax at high rates. He alleged that Jal Sansthan officials are charging money which are not approved by the Jal Sansthan Board. He also appealed to the people to protest against the hike in water tax.
They have also convened a meeting of the corporators on July 18 to decide the future course of action on the issue. Kamlesh Singh, Shiv Sewak Singh, Shiva Tripathi and other corporators were present.
