ALLAHABAD: State principal secretary (urban development) Alok Ranjan held a top level meeting with the heads of the officers of the municipal corporations at the Circuit House on Friday. He also inspected Morigate pumping station and went to Kakraha ghat.
During the meeting, principal secretary urged the municipal officers to increase their revenue to come out of the financial problems grappling with the numerous municipal corporations.
He also inquired about the status of various civic projects which are being pursued in the various cities and urged them to expedite all the works. He exuded confidence that civic problems would be solved if the projects are properly implemented.
In the meeting, Ashok Kumar, municipal commissioner of AMC, Rajeev Sharma, municipal commissioner of Kanpur Municipal Corporation and Nand Kishore, municipal commissioner of Varanasi Municipal Corporation also participated.
Earlier, a delegation of corporators met the principal secretary at the Circuit House in the morning and apprised him of the various problems grappling the citizens. The corporators demanded for the construction of another STP at the Parade Ground where waste water accumulates. This ground is near the Morigate pumping station.The corporators also apprised about the poor financial condition of Allahabad Municipal Corporation.
The corporators demanded that vacant posts of the officer should be immediately filled and the work of laying sanitary pipes should be done on priority basis in the several localities of the city.
The corporators who were present in the delegation included Shiv Sewak Singh, Kamlesh Singh, Mohd. Muslim, Anand Ghildiyal, Shiva Tripathi, Umesh Dwivedi, Kusum Lata Gupta and others.
