Illegal occupants evicted from AU hostel, rooms sealed
Prayagraj: To maintain discipline, and transparency within the hostels of the Allahabad University, a surprise inspection cum raid was conducted at KPUC Hostel on Wednesday.
The inspection, led by dean of student welfare, Prof NK Shukla, and chief proctor, Dr Atul Narayan Singh, was initiated following the examination of available facts and a complaint received from hostel warden Prof Sandeep Anand.
KPUC Hostel, managed by the KP Trust, serves as a residential facility for students of Allahabad University. The absence of a regular warden in the recent past adversely affected the hostel’s administration and led to illegal occupation of several rooms. Following the recent appointment of Prof Sandeep Anand as the warden, efforts were initiated to reorganize the hostel’s administration.
In physical verification of all the 84 hostel rooms, it was found that 57 of them were occupied by unauthorized individuals. The university administration evicted all the illegal occupants and sealed the rooms with immediate effect to prevent the recurrence of any irregularities in the future.
The district police and local administration extended its full cooperation to ensure that the raid cum surprise inspection was executed in an orderly and peaceful manner.
Led by the ACP (Colonelganj circle), adequate police forces were deployed during the raid. The entire exercise was conducted in strict compliance with principles of transparency, legal provisions, and university regulations.
Dean of student welfare, Prof N K Shukla, and chief proctor Dr Atul Narayan Singh said that the university administration is fully committed to maintaining an academic environment, discipline, and proper order in the hostels. The objective of the hostels is to provide students with a safe, peaceful, and study-conducive environment and any form of illegal occupation, unauthorized residency, or activities contrary to the rules will not be tolerated.
Authorities said that similar inspections and verification drives will be conducted in a phased manner across other hostels of the university as well, for which a detailed action plan has already been formulated.Get real-time updates and result insights on the CBSE 12 Result 2026.
