Huge cache of weapons seized in Kaushambi

In a major development, cops on Friday seized a huge cache of weapons, including three licenced SBBL of 0.12 bore, three licenced DBBL of 0.12 bore, two licenced rifles of 0.315 bore and one country made pistol of 0.315 bore along with 93 live cartridges, during raids at Bhakanda and Saray Akil villages in Kaushambi district.

PRAYAGRAJ: In a major development, cops on Friday seized a huge cache of weapons, including three licenced SBBL of 0.12 bore, three licenced DBBL of 0.12 bore, two licenced rifles of 0.315 bore and one country made pistol of 0.315 bore along with 93 live cartridges, during raids at Bhakanda and Saray Akil villages in Kaushambi district.
Police said five persons-- Nizamuddin and Mohd Aslam of Bhakanda, Ajmal, Shahid alias Raju and Bilal of Saray Akil—were arrested by the cops when they went to carry out search for absconding sharp shooter and Atiq aide Abdul Kavi.

Kavi wanted in connection with 2005 BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case is absconding since then and carries a reward of Rs 50000 on his arrest. Cops said 11 police teams were formed to conduct raids in search of Abdul Kavi and his brother Abdul Gani at Bhakanda village.
Police later came to know about the supporters of Abdul Kadir (elder brother of Kavi who was arrested by police last week for different charges including hiding of weapons) and conducted raids at their hideouts and made the recovery. A senior cop told TOI that these persons were arrested for sheltering and assisting Abdul Kadir. He added an FIR under appropriate sections of IPC and arms act was registered in this regard.
