ALLAHABAD: The cultural evening at the ongoing Shilp Mela was dedicated to the sweetness of the folk music at North Central Zone Cultural Centre (NCZCC) on Friday. Artists from Manipur, Kolkata, Kerala and other places presented various folk songs getting huge applause from the people.
Artists from Manipur presented the Lai Haroba dance which drew huge applause from the people.
This dance is performed after rich harvest. Artists dressed in the traditional attire matched their footsteps with the music of flute and of beats of dholak.
Shalu Singh from Unnao sang alha. Through this song, she vividly recreated the scene of the fight between Prithiviraj Chauhan and Raja Parimal fought on the banks of river Betwa. Artists from Himanchal Pradesh presented the folk dance Gaddinati.
Shivami Matanhelya presented light music. Kaushiki Dehsikan presented the chota khayal, Raag Bageshwari during the Shilp Mela. Her lines ' Aao sajao yaad karo, prem magan jiyara 'earned huge applause from the people.
