Prayagraj: The tourism department will organise a two-day
Ramayana Conclave at Shringverpur, which is associated with the friendship of Lord Ram and Nishad Raj, on February 15-16.
The move is part of efforts by the state government to promote religious tourism and comes at a time when the tourism industry of the state got investment proposals worth Rs 1.17 lakh crore during the recently concluded Global Investors Summit in Lucknow.
“The conclave will focus on Ram katha and Ram’s character. Ramcharitmanas will also be in the center of the conclave. The preparations for conclave at Shringverpur, which is about 40 Km from district headquarters of Prayagraj and is at the Ram Gaman Path, have been completed. It will be organised by the Ayodhya Research Institute and the national Ramayana mela committee and the tourism department would coordinate the event,” said regional tourism officer of Prayagraj, Aparajita Singh.
According to Singh, there will be discourses and lectures on Lord Ram by saints and distinguished persons.
On behalf of the education department, competitions of drawing, rangoli and alpana etc based on Ram Katha will also be held along with essay-writing on Ramayana and singing competitions. Other attractions include Ramayana exhibition by the department of culture and information and presentations of special Ramlilas by the Ayodhya Research Institute. Various cultural programmes on the cultural heritage of UP and Ram katha will also be held.
