Five children injured in bomb explosion

At least five children aged between 7 to 12 years were seriously injured when a crude bomb lying inside a garbage dump exploded in village Pawai.

ALLAHABAD: At least five children aged between 7 to 12 years were seriously injured when a crude bomb lying inside a garbage dump exploded in village Pawai. The incident was reported from Ghoorpur police station in trans-Yamuna area on Thursday morning. The kids were playing near the spot.
As per reports, a group of children including Sushma aged 12 years, daughter of one Tribhuvan Yadav along with Mausami aged 12 years, daughter of one Ranjit Yadav, Jyoti aged 12 years, daughter of one Horilal Yadav, Ajay Yadav aged 6 years and Shashi aged 7 years went for grazing cattle near the village pond.

The children started playing near the pond when suddenly one of them noticed a ball like object kept inside a cardboard box lying near the garbage dump. One of them picked it up and started playing with it when it accidentally fell and exploded with a loud bang. As a result the children received splinter injuries even as locals rushed to the spot on hearing the explosion, informed the Station Officer Ghoorpur police station.
He said that when the family members of the victims reached the spot they found the children lying injured.
They informed the local police and rushed the victims to Swaroop Rani Nehru(SRN) hospital where they are undergoing treatment for burn injuries.
On the other hand the police are investigating as to how the crude bomb reached the spot and fell in the hands of children.
A team of health department led by deputy chief medical officer, Dr Vivek Srivastava also rushed to the spot and conducted medical examination of children injured in the incident.

Injured: Two children including Anchal Tripathi (6) and her brother Himanshu Tripathi (11), residents of Raniganj sustained serious injuries when the condenser exploded at their house under Shankargarh police circle here on Thursday, said police.
The children were admitted to SRN hospital where their condition was stated to be stable. Police are investigating the case.
