PRAYAGRAJ: Panic spread across Sector 18 and surrounding areas of the Maha Kumbh campus in Prayagra on Friday after a major fire broke out at several tents along Shankaracharya Marg, damaging many of them.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Fire department teams, equipped with fire extinguishers and fire vehicles, were alerted and rushed to the scene.
They worked for about half an hour to control and douse the flames. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Thick smoke from the burned tents was visible from distant areas, prompting mela police to block access to the affected site for safety reasons.
A senior official from the mela management stated that a thorough investigation into the incident is underway.
