ALLAHABAD: In a tragic incident, a father along with his minor son jumped off from new Naini bridge under Naini police station on Tuesday. Initial police investigations claimed that a 30-year-old identified as Abdul Kadir, a resident of Gaus Nagar along with her nine-year-old daughter and two-year-old son had reached at the new Naini bridge.
Laxmikant, a watchman who was present on the new Naini bridge on duty, noticed that a man along with his two children had reached the bridge by his bike.
Before he could raise an alarm, the man after parking his bike had thrown his two year old son named as, Nihal into the river.
When he tried to throw his daughter, the daughter refused to come with the father and escaped from the site.
Before the onlookers and watchman could make efforts to catch him, the youth too jumped off from the bridge.
A police official posted in Naini, told TOI that they have been making attempts to fish out the bodies. He added the exact reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained, but investigations revealed that Abdul Kadir was suffering from depression. The police official further added that Abdul had suffered huge financial loss, as his shoe shop was not running well. He was so depressive that he had no talking terms with his neighbours and others.
