Experts discuss breast cancer diagnosis, surgery techniques
Prayagraj: On the occasion of International Women's Day, ‘BREASTCON 2025', a conference focusing on the latest technology in the diagnosis, treatment and management of breast cancer, was conducted by the department of Radiation Oncology, MLN Medical College, on Saturday. Renowned oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and medical experts from across the country participated in this conference.
The speakers emphasised the diagnosis of breast cancer, modern treatment methods, and the need for mutual cooperation. Various sessions focusing on different aspects of breast cancer treatment were organised in this conference. The first session discussed breast cancer diagnosis and other aspects, wherein Dr Nishtha Singh, Dr Kachnar Verma, and Dr Shreya Shukla shared important insights.
The next session featured lectures on the latest techniques in breast cancer surgery, where Dr Probal Neogi and Dr Mayank Tripathi discussed the comparison between breast-conserving surgery (BCS) and mastectomy, informed media in charge, Dr Santosh Kumar. In the session based on chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and hormonal therapy, Dr B K Mishra, Dr Anuj Gupta, and Dr Akhil Kapoor provided information on the latest research in breast cancer treatment. In the session based on radiation therapy, Dr Resham Srivastava, Dr Rohini Khurana, and Dr. Ashutosh Mukherjee discussed the technological advancements in radiation therapy. A major highlight of the conference was the discussion on the treatment of breast cancer in elderly women. The topic "Should aggressive treatment for breast cancer be done in elderly women?" was debated. Along with this, Dr Lincoln Pujari shared detailed information on the stage-wise management of breast cancer.
During the panel discussion, rare breast cancer cases such as bilateral breast cancer, pregnancy-associated breast cancer, and male breast cancer were deeply analysed. TNN
