State urban development minister Nakul Dubey held a meeting with the administrative officers of the divisions of Allahabad, Varanasi, Vindhayachal, Mau and Gorakhpur at the Circuit House here on Thursday to review the preparations made for the summer season.

ALLAHABAD: State urban development minister Nakul Dubey held a meeting with the administrative officers of the divisions of Allahabad, Varanasi, Vindhayachal, Mau and Gorakhpur at the Circuit House here on Thursday to review the preparations made for the summer season. He also met the corporators of Allahabad Municipal Corporation and heard their problems.
Dubey stressed that people should not face water supply problems in the summers and added that overhead tanks should be checked to remove leakages, if any.

He instructed the municipal corporations of Allahabad, Varanasi and Gorakhpur to make arrangements for proper cleanliness in different wards. He also called for undertaking special drives for cleaning of drains.
The Minister told the officials to adhere to the guidelines issued by the chief minister Mayawati while performing the works. He warned that no laxity would be tolerated.
Later, a delegation of corporators met the minister Nakul Dubey and handed him a memorandum. They urged that delimitation of wards of the city should be carried out urgently as the latest figures of Census 2011 have been released. Further, the election of the municipal corporations, nagar panchayats and local bodies should be conducted on the basis of Census 2011, they added.
The corporators apprised the minister that norms are not being followed while laying the sewage pipelines under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. They alleged that substandard materials are being used in the projects.
The corporators demanded that pension and salary should be disbursed timely to retired workers and employees of Allahabad Municipal Corporation.
The corporators who were present in the delegation included Shiv Sewak Singh, Kamlesh Singh, Anand Ghildiyal, Kusum Lata Gupta, Uttam Kumar, Umesh Dwivedi, Chanda Prakash Ganga, Athar Raza Ladley, Shiva Tripathi and others.
