Elocution contest held at AU

The students and faculty members of the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS), of Allahabad University organised an inter centre elocution contest on Friday. The contest was held under the banner of debate club.

ALLAHABAD: The students and faculty members of the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS), of Allahabad University organised an inter centre elocution contest on Friday. The contest was held under the banner of debate club.
The theme for the event was health and hygiene is the real wealth. It was chosen in order to create awareness for cleanliness amongst students and staff.

The elocution was conducted in English as well as Hindi language. There were in all 35 competitors from all the centers, Media Studies, Food Technology, Computer Education, and Fashion Design of IPS.
Unaiza Iqbal, Alisha Khan & Abhishek Dhar dwivedi were the first, second & third winners in English Elocution. Utkarsh Pandey, Suraj Kumar Pandey & Ujjwal Srivastava were the winners in Hindi elocution. English elocution was judged by Dr Jaya Kapoor, department of English, AU and the judgment for Hindi elocution was done by Dr Saleha Rasheed, of the department of Arabic and Persian, also of AU.
The event was convened by Gunjan Varshney, Sehar Siddiqui, Ritu Mathur and Priyanka Mishra. Amongst the guest, Dhananjay Chopra, Vineeta Puranik, Kamini Mittal, Mitali, Suchitra Tripathi were present.
This initiative has been taken by the soft skill trainers to encourage students and motivate them to take part in co-curricular activities as well as hone their communication skills. This will help them in enhancing their public speaking skills for their professional life ahead, said Dhananjay Chopra of IPS.
