As part of Allahabad Medical Association's (AMA) initiative 'Aao Gaon Chalo' that aims to apprise rural folk about cancer and its prevention, a team of doctors on Sunday visited Bariyari village under Phulpur tehsil.

ALLAHABAD: As part of Allahabad Medical Association's (AMA) initiative 'Aao Gaon Chalo' that aims to apprise rural folk about cancer and its prevention, a team of doctors on Sunday visited Bariyari village under Phulpur tehsil.
AMA president Dr Shardool Singh who led the team said that under the initiative, a free medical check up camp was organised in the village wherein more than 150 patients were examined by the team of doctors and prescribed treatment for various ailments.

On this occasion, AMA secretary and cancer specialist Dr BK Mishra also distributed booklets among children containing details like symptoms, treatment and prevention of cancer to raise awareness about the dreaded ailment.
Dr Shardool Singh said that it was also decided to organise a camp in rural areas under the aegis of AMA on last Sunday of every month where a team of doctors would examine patients and prescribe the necessary treatment. Besides, efforts are also on to invite district officials to the camp in order to create awareness among the rural people about health and hygiene and regulated lifstyle in order to avoid falling victim to cancer.
