BAHRAICH: A probe has been ordered by Bahraich district magistrate Rigziyan Samphel into Friday's clash between personnel of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and some locals at a check-post in Ranjeetbojha village under Murtiha Kotwali on UP-Nepal border.
Three locals and two SSB personnel, including a woman constable, were injured in the clash. "I have ordered a probe into the reasons leading to the clash.
The sub divisional magistrate of Nanpara area has been asked to conduct the probe," DM said on Sunday.
The report would be sent to the state government if the probe's findings are adverse about SSB's role in the clash, he added. The incident took place when SSB jawans reportedly stopped a rice-laden truck which was trying to illegally cross into Nepal. After the clash, the truck managed to cross the border.
Commandant SSB Chandra Pal Rathore said that on getting information that smuggled rice had been stored in Ranjeetbojha village under Murtiha Kotwali on UP-Nepal border, about a dozen SSB jawans raided the village. When they tried to load the rice the villagers started pelted stones at them in which half a dozen jawans were injured and a jeep of SSB was damaged.
