Dacoits target ex-DIG’s house, loot cash & jewellery

More than six armed dacoits struck the house of a retired deputy inspector general of police (stamp) at Madhwapur locality in Kydganj in the wee hours of Sunday and decamped with booty worth lakhs including cash, jewellery and other valuables. The dacoits also brutally assaulted the ex-DIG. He had been admitted at a nursing home.

At around 3 am, dacoits managed to enter the house after breaking the grill of a window at Tikonia Madhwapur locality.

They held retired DIG S N Srivastava (65), his wife Ratan Srivastava (60), daughter in-law and two children aged about two and five years captive.
The dacoits ransacked the house and broke open almirahs. They looted cash, jewellery and valuables. Before fleeing, they tied the hands of all the family members and applied tapes on their mouths and locked them inside a room.
The family members somehow managed to free themselves and called neighbours and police. SP (crime) A K Pandey and other officials reached the spot and carried out investigations.
CRPF jawan injured
A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan identified as Vijay Tripathi sustained gunshot injuries after he was allegedly attacked by his relatives at Leelapur Kalan village in Sarayinayat on Sunday. The incident took place when brothers Hariram Tripathi and Devi Shankar Tripathi came at loggerheads over the issue of irrigation of fields. Devi Shankar, father of injured jawan, had lodged an FIR against Hariram and his sons g Piyush and Amit alleging that they had fired on his son and left him wounded.
