Corporators slam officials for snail's pace of civic work

A meeting of the corporators belonging to different political parties was organised at Allahabad Municipal Corporation on Wednesday in which they castigated the apathy of officers relating to the preparations for the coming festivals of Durga Puja, Dussehra and Diwali.

ALLAHABAD : A meeting of the corporators belonging to different political parties was organised at Allahabad Municipal Corporation on Wednesday in which they castigated the apathy of officers relating to the preparations for the coming festivals of Durga Puja, Dussehra and Diwali.
Participating in the meeting, Shiv Sewak Singh, senior corporator, expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the roads filled with potholes.

He urged the municipal commissioner to make arrangements for the repair of the roads. He said that priority should be given to the roads on which `Ram Dal' would be taken out in various parts of the city.
Kamlesh Singh, another corporator, observed that drains are also in broken conditions. He said provision should be made for sanctioning work of about Rs 5 lakh in each of the 80 wards of the city.
The corporators have demanded that AMC officers should take active interest in work of repair of roads and drains, streamlining the sanitary system and ensuring proper streetlighting.
The corporators who were present in the meeting included Mohd Muslim, Anand Ghildiyal, Shiva Tripathi, Uttam Kumar, Chandra Prakash Ganga, Kusum Lata Gupta, Akhilesh Singh, Mohd Azam, Ramesh Yadav, Mohd Asad, Mohd Shakeel, and others.
