City corporator to contest mayor’s poll

ALLAHABAD: The corporators of the city on Saturday decided to field senior corporator Shiv Sewak Singh for mayor’s post in the Allahabad Municipal Corporation election.
Corporator Anand Ghildiyal said Shiv Sewak Singh has a clean image and an unblemished career as a corporator. He said Singh has always raised civic issues vociferously during Sadan meetings.
The corporators also alleged that AMC administration has adopted whimsical attitude for reserving the wards in the urban bodies poll. They have also made a demand to state urban development minister Azam Khan that if urban body election is going to be organized on the basis of Census 2001, then reservation of wards should be made in accordance with the reservation done in 2001.
Corporators present in the meeting included Kamlesh Singh, Anand Ghidiyal, Uttam Kumar, Mohd Musilm, Chnadra Prakash Ganga, Kusum Lata Gupta, Sanju Verma, former corporator Prahalad Chandra Gupta, Raghvendra Pratap Singh.
