Prayagraj: Sleuths of vigilance department on Wednesday arrested a block programme manager (BPM) posted at Baghrai community health centre in Pratapgarh on the charges of accepting Rs 50,000 bribe.
Officials said on April 6, a complaint was received by the department wherein the BPM Amit Kumar Mishra of Kunda was accused of seeking bribe Rs 1.5 lakh bribe for recruitment for the post of sweeper in PHC Hardo Patti, affiliated to Baghrai CHC.
The accused asked the complainant to pay an initial amount of Rs 50,000 while the remaining was to be given within a week.
After carrying out confidential verification of the complaint, the case was found suitable for trap.
On Wednesday, a UP Vigilance department team, led by inspector NR Saroj, laid a trap and arrested Mishra while accepting the bribe. An FIR has been registered in this regard.
