Pratapargh: Police claimed to have recovered the car of the prime accused involved in Patti registry office firing incident from the state capital on Thursday.
On the basis of information revealed by the accused block chief of Baba Belkharnath dham Sushil Singh during police custody remand, they also seized 34.10 gram prohibited Methamphetamine Drug (MD) from his hideouts.
Police said that the recovered car was used by the accused in the firing on July 21. Two brothers were injured in the incident and an FIR was registered at Patti police station.
SP (Pratapgarh) Anil Kumar told TOI that police have seized the car used in the crime and raids are being conducted at his hideouts. A total of seven persons, including Sushil Singh, were sent to jail in this connection. The SP claimed that police of Maharastra and Haryana have also arrived to quiz the accused in connection with money laundering and drug peddling cases. One of the key aides of the prime accused, identified as Lavi Shankar Mishra of Akaripur, was currently lodged at district jail in Pratapgarh who was the key operative of Sushil Singh's inter-district drug racket.
The SP said the block chief has over half a dozen criminal cases pending against him. He was also involved in a drug peddling racket and accumulating wealth through illegal means. he added.
