ALLAHABAD: A calf head found on the premises of
Akhileshwar Mahadeo
temple in Allahbad's
Shivkuti
locality on Saturday morning triggered panic in the area.
The temple's priest, who spotted the carcass, informed the police, following which Hindu frontal organisations started staging a demonstration, demanding arrest of the accused. Police have assured the protestors that action would be taken in the next 24 hours.
"After receiving information from temple priest
Akhilesh Pandey, forces from four police stations rushed to the temple. A group of agitators were dispersed from the site and the carcass was removed," said SP (city) Vipin Tada, adding that a private school situated near the temple was closed as a precautionary measure.
District wings of
Viswa Hindu Parishad
and
Bajrang Dal
warned of massive agitation if the accused were not brought to book. District president, VHP, Shivam Dwivedi said, "The law and order situation in the city has deteriorated."
