BTC admission: Probe fake degrees scam, orders HC

The Allahabad High Court has observed that it is high time that it comes down with a very heavy hand to curb unethical, immoral and illegal practice by those who have got admission in BTC courses for securing jobs in educational sector by obtaining forged marksheets or certificates.

ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad High Court has observed that it is high time that it comes down with a very heavy hand to curb unethical, immoral and illegal practice by those who have got admission in BTC courses for securing jobs in educational sector by obtaining forged marksheets or certificates.
Making this strong observation, a division bench consisting of Justice Amar Saran and Jutice Kalimullah Khan directed the UP DGP to begin investigation in such a big scam in education department and get all the cases registered in this connection, which shall be monitored by DIG/SSP/SP (district police chief) of the concerned district and submit a compliance report on the next date of listing of this case on November 2, 2011.

Passing this order, on a writ petition filed by Sachin Rana and others of district Baghpat and district Ghaziabad, the bench also directed the educational secretary to ensure prosecution of such offenders as well as government officials who may collaborate in such scams and for taking other measures, so that a stop may be put on this grave and widely prevalent malpractice of relying on forged marksheets and certificates for the purposes of securing admissions to the BTC courses and jobs in the education sector.
Both the senior officials have been directed to submit compliance report in the court by November 2, 2011.
The investigating officers have also been directed to be present in the court along with case diaries. They have to inform the court about other cases where such forged marksheets have been utilised to secure admission in BTC courses or for getting jobs in the educational sector.
The investigating officers are to proceed with utmost urgency in the conduct of investigations in this case and file counter-affidavits on or before the next date about the progress of the investigations and nature of evidence collected in all the matters.

The court has stayed the arrest of the petitioners till next date of listing of the case as there were already stay orders in favour of similarly situated candidates involved in obtaining forged marksheets and getting admission in the BTC courses.
