ALLAHABAD: Jubilation and festivities marked the announcement of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi as prime ministerial candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Party activists distributed sweets and busted crackers at Subhash Crossing in Civil Lines on Friday to welcome the decision.Slogans of 'Narendra Modi zindabad' and 'Desh ka Neta Kaisa ho, Narendra Modi jaisa ho' rent the air as party workers and leaders danced to drum beats drawing applause from bystanders.

Welcoming the decision, party leader and national spokesperson Sidharth Nath Singh said "elevation of Modi as prime ministerial candidate would definitely be a game changer for the party in the 2014 parliamentary polls because Modi is a true Vikas Purush who has the vision to take the country forward."
He added that the development would rejuvenate party cadre eager to face the electorate in 2014 Lok Sabha polls. "Nothing is going to stop the BJP from forming the next government at the Centre," he claimed.Party leader Mritunjaya Tiwari said "better days are ahead for the party as Modi's elevation would ensure victory in 2014 Lok Sabha polls." He further said that the party would form the next government with full majority.
The party office at T B Sapru Marg presented an interesting sight with jubilant party leaders and cadres dancing to the beats of drums. Sharing her joy party leader Suman Goswami said "Modiji se poorey desh ko ummeed hai. Woh is sankat ke daur se Bharat ko nikal le jaayenge aur yuvaon ke hiton mein kalyankari yojanayein shuru karenge (the entire nation expects Modi to take them out from the present crisis and introduce welfare schemes for youth)."
Expressing similar views party leader Pawan Srivastava said that time was ripe to add a new chapter in the history of the country. Narendra Modi would take over the charge and take the nation on the path of development and progress, he added.He added that the current government created the worst economic crisis in recent years and time was ripe to introduce new measures to boost the ailing economy of the country.
