Ayodhya verdict: Uphold Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb, appeal religious heads in Allahabad

religious leaders are exhorting their followers to maintain the

Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb

irrespective of the Supreme Court’s verdict on the Ayodhya dispute.

Mohammed Shoaib, convener of Muslim Samaj Sewa Samiti, said peace and brotherhood were of paramount importance, and people of the country must respect the verdict.

"People of both the communities must set an example by maintaining Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb, which means caring for and loving each other no matter what the decision is. The nation is above us. Unity and communal harmony should be maintained under all circumstances,” Shoaib said.

Muslim scholar Maulana Nadir agreed. “Everyone should respect the verdict in the Ayodhya case. We have been making efforts to uphold communal harmony and peace through various means of communication, including social media,” he said.

Coordinator of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Ashwani Mishra said the VHP had already held a series of peace meetings — from district level to the national level. He said workers and supporters had been strictly asked to refrain from incendiary social media posts.

“No one is allowed to react or give opinions even after the verdict is out. The message of the VHP is clear, ‘Na koi harega aur na koi jeetega (Nobody loses, nobody wins)’,” Mishra added.
